    Dr. Di Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). From 2021 to 2024, he was a Director’s Postdoc Fellow working in the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Dr. Zhang obtained his Ph.D. degree from School of Materials Engineering at Purdue University in May 2021. His research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of advanced semiconductor materials and microelectronic devices for next-generation energy-efficient memory and computing applications. He has a wide range of research interests and expertise including the growth of functional thin films and heterostructures, advanced semiconductor materials and microelectronic devices, cutting-edge electron microscopy and spectroscopy, in-situ S/TEM techniques etc.

My research interests include, energy-efficient thin-film microelectronics for next-generation memory and switching devices. synthesis and characterization of advanced semiconductor materials, energy materials and advanced aerospace microelectronic materials.

    Hien Tran is an M.S. student in Materials Science at the University of Texas at Arlington. He earned his B.S. in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin, where he participated in the Accelerated Research Initiative through the Magnetic Matter research stream. Some of his research interests include wide-bandgap semiconductors and computational materials modeling. In his free time, you can find Hien reading a science fiction novel or rock-climbing. He also enjoys attending indie concerts and music festivals with his friends.
